Captivity in the shadow of the Alps. Oflag VII A Murnau

The publication of Professor Danuta Kisielewicz, historian and political scientist from the University of Opole, who specializes in the problems of prisoners-of-war, is dedicated to Oflag VII A Murnau. It is a comprehensive monograph on one of the largest camps for Polish officers prisoners-of-war in the German POW system. It was written on the basis of museum collections, national and international, archives and historical treatises and memoir books. The book presents the issue of the organization of Oflag VII A Murnau, everyday life of prisoners-of-war, their treatment by the Wehrmacht, extensive cultural and educational activities, POWs military conspiracy and the memory about this place, which the former Murnau POWs cultivated after the war. The interesting look at the various issues concerning the everyday life of Polish prisoners-of-war in the German captivity, accessible language and rich graphic design makes that it is a publication,  which can used both by professional historians and other recipients. The book was published by our museum and The Association of Friends of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War in Łambinowice-Opole.
