Visit of Members of the Land Parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate

Among the Opole Province’s twin towns and regions is one of the German states – Rhineland-Palatinate. The collaboration between the regions includes visits and revisits allowing both partners to share experiences and directly become familiar with culture backgrounds, which, although common in Europe, differ locally.

One such visit took place in the first days of July, when a group of members of the Rhineland-Palatinate parliament came to Opole. In total, there were around 30 people sitting on two committees of the Landtag: interior affairs and culture, who visited the region. The Marshal's Office of the Opole Province made certain that the guests from Mainz would have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with our Museum and Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice. This is understandable given how important the site is on the map of European history.

This fact strongly resonated in the introductory talk given by the Director of the Museum, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, after which the guests visited the Memorial Site. By presenting the history and relics of the camps located at Lamsdorf, we placed special emphasis on the open-air exhibition "Place With A Scar". Personal contact with the traces of the human dramas that took place here - as our guests assured us - made a great impression on them.
