The exhibition "The End and the Beginning. Warsaw Insurgents in German Captivity" is in Sandbostel and Mińsk Mazowiecki

The exhibition can viewed in two places at present: in the country - in Mińsk Mazowiecki - and abroad - in Sandbostel - and is part of the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

The opening of the exhibition in Mińsk Mazowiecki took place on 1 August at 7 p.m., at Museum of the Mińsk Land’s Branch of the 7th Lublin Cavalry Regiment. During the event, Dr. Michał Jakubik from the Museum’s Department Education gave a lecture on the captivity of Warsaw insurgents. The End and the Beginning... presented in Mińsk Mazowiecki is an open-air exhibition and can be viewed until the end of September.

The opening of the German-language version of this exhibition in the northern German town of Sandbostel took place on 30 July. Guests at the opening of the exhibition were welcomed by Sandbostel Camp Memorial’s Director Andreas Ehresmann, and a historical introduction followed by a joint tour of the exhibition was given by Jan Dohrmann. It is housed in the Bernard Le Godais room located in a post-war Catholic church. It will be on display there until the end of September.

The End and the Beginning. Warsaw Insurgents in the German Captivity depicts the fate of several thousand Warsaw insurgents: men, women and young people, who were sent to prisoner-of-war camps after the fall of the uprising. Visitors can find out how their camp reality looked like, but also be acquainted with the fate some of them, such as Capt. Dr. Jadwiga Beaupré - an exceptional physician who devotedly served her fellow prisoners in need of medical care, or Cavalry Capt. Witold Pilecki - "The Volunteer to Auschwitz" - whose stay in German captivity is a lesser-known fact of his life.

We are very welcome to visit the exhibitions!
