The collection of POW memorabilia is continued

The recent donations, of which we have written, among others, here, provide a good opportunity to remind you that the Museum's "Saved Memorabilia, Preserved Memory" campaign is keep going. It has resulted in a number of mementoes and historical records enriching our collections in recent years.

The collection concerns objects, correspondence, photographs and documents related to the fate of soldiers in Wehrmacht and NKVD POW camps and in internment camps in neutral countries during World War II. The scope of the Museum’s interest therefore includes all objects used or made in captivity, as well as those documenting POW biographies, including, for example, photographs (also those from pre-war and post-war periods). The artefacts accepted to the collection will be under the professional care of conservator-restorers, as well as historians and educators, as the museum's objects, protected from destruction or/and damage, are being successively researched and described with a view to their further popularisation. This significantly widens the circle of people to whom knowledge about the objects and their original owners might be conveyed.

Anyone interested in taking part in the "Saved Memorabilia, Preserved Memory" campaign is invited to contact us by phone, via e-mail, by post or in person. The donated objects will be digitised and described so that each donor can receive a commemorative album with images of the donated objects.

Responsible for the collection is the Department of Collections and Conservation: 4 Muzealna St., 48-316 Łambinowice, tel./fax +48 77 434 34 75, e-mail: .
