Research at Bundesarchiv
Our team tasked with conducting rearches at two branches of the German Federal Archives returned to Opole on 19 October.
The head of the Research Department, Dr. Piotr Stanek, was helped by Dawid Żak and Roman Ciecior. In the course of five days, thanks to their joint work, it was possible to update the research of materials collected in the German state archives in Ludwigsburg and Freiburg.
The research resulted in more than a thousand copied pages. Among them there were many very interesting and detailed document, such as: infrastructure plans of Stalag IX A Ziegenhain. There were also materials from a completely different category, although also directly related to the subject of the Wehrmacht POW camps. In this pool, a German language tutorial from the same stalag addressed to French and Belgian prisoners-of-war stands out.
We consider the research to have been fruitful. The copies will go to our Archive, to a special collection of copies, and will serve us - now available at hand - for further research and scientific studies.
