Nomination for Dr. Iwona Konopnicka

The President of the Association of Friends of the CMJW, a well-known pedagogue associated with the University of Opole who pioneered the Polish programme on the pedagogy of remembrance, was shortlisted in the 3rd edition of the nationwide Janusz Korczak Award in the 'Leaders' category.

The idea, initiated by the Korczak Academy of Applied Sciences in Warsaw, aims to honour exceptional individuals "for their personal actions and initiatives in the sphere of education, children's rights, upbringing and concern for the welfare of children and young people".

Other categories introduced by the Award Chapter are to recognise organisations and institutions guided by Korczak values and activists with an international or nationwide track record of working for children and young people. Last year the winner of the Main Award was Janina Ochojska, while Tomasz and Marek Sekielski have been awarded in this edition.

We congratulate Dr. Iwona Konopnicka and wish her many successes in her work with young people!
