Education conference on The Upper Silesian Tragedy - invitation
Soon, on 22 January 2025, an education and commemorative event will take place at the seat of the Museum in Łambinowice, which we are co-organising with the School Superintendent's Office in Opole and the Silesian Institute with teachers and all those interested in one of the most difficult chapters of our region's past in mind.
The programme of the event, entitled Education Conference on ‘The Upper Silesian Tragedy of 1945 in School Education’, will include a tour of the Memorial Site and laying flowers at the Cemetery of the Victims of the Labour Camp in Łambinowice, as well as speeches given by Museum workers and invited experts: Joanna Raźniewska, Opole Voivodeship Superintendent of Schools, Bartosz Kuświk, Director of the Silesian Institute, and Sebastian Rosenbaum from the Katowice Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance. Their aim will be to present the historical course of the dramatic events which, as a political consequence of the Second World War, affected the civilian population and which are nowadays referred to as the Upper Silesian Tragedy.
We will also take upon ourself the practical teaching of the subject, i.e. explaining the social context of Polish and German history during and soon after the war period and ways of passing on this difficult knowledge to pupils. To this end, conference participants will be invited to take part in showcase workshops conducted by means of the Avatar-method by experts from the House of Peace - Dorota Whitten and Maja Zabokrzycka.
Attendance in the conference is free. Please register at: edukacja@cmjw.pl. There is a possibility to use free transportation: at 8.00 a.m., on the day of the conference (22.01), our coach will leave from Opole (the car park in front of "Toropol") to Łambinowice. We should be back in Opole around 2.30 p.m. If you are interested in using the transport, please include this information in your register form.
You are warmly welcome to attend the event!
