CMJW museum workers at conferences in Sztutowo and Toruń
The end of the summer period marks the beginning of a very busy autumn time in the realm of culture. On 4-6 September, two events with the participation of our museum workers took place in Pomerania.
Representatives of our two departments and the director represented the CMJW at the Remembrance Forum in Sztutowo where the 15th edition of a seminar for Polish museums of martyrdom took place. One of its main objectives was, as the organisers put it, ‘to present what is interesting, new and worth discussing’.
On the second day of the session, Dr. Anna Czerner of the Research Department guided the participants through the exhibition prepared by the CMJW staff ‘I love You, see You...’. A few hours later, Dr. Dominik Marcinkowski from the Section of Communication and Public Image gave a talk entitled ‘There is no a single memory. Meetings of the families of Second World War prisoners-of-war’. Additionally, the Museum Director, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, was responsible for moderating a panel entitled ‘Conservation, exhibits and modern technologies’.
The second event, i.e. a meeting of museum workers and experts from other fields entitled ‘The Modern Museum - Relations and Narratives 2’, was held in Toruń. The Museum was represented by Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, who sits on the scientific advisory board of this conference. During the intensive three-day meeting, its participants listened to almost 50 talks given at nine sessions dealing thematically with the most important challenges of the contemporary cultural market.
