A meeting about Roman Horoszkiewicz – invitation

Tadeusz Horoszkiewicz is a personality who has made a lasting mark in the history of the Opole media. As a charismatic journalist, cameraman, editor and TV presenter, he was changing the shape of television in our region for many years. He started his career in 1962 as a lighting assistant in Polish Television and then moved to Radio Opole, where he honed his journalist skills. He was also editor-in-chief of the legendary ‘Studio pod Bukiem’ programme and co-founder of the Opole branch of TVP3.

The doyen of Opole journalism had a unique bond with our Museum, stemming from his family history. His father, Roman Horoszkiewicz, was a distinguished officer in the Polish Army, a legionnaire and participant in many important historical events, including the Polish Defensive War of 1939. His talented son, wishing to commemorate his father's achievements, collaborated with us in the production of documentaries and donated priceless family memorabilia to the Museum's collection. Thanks to his commitment, the book ‘Roman Horoszkiewicz - Life and Work’ by Roman Kwaśniewski, was published.

During the meeting, which will be held as part of the "Faces of Opole" series, we will honour the memory of Tadeusz Horoszkiewicz, present the profile of this remarkable man, his contribution to the development of media in Opole, and we will talk about his family and connections with the Opole region. There will also be an opportunity to show interesting archive materials related to the journalist's activities and to indulge in personal reminiscences. Moreover, the meeting will be chaired by Janina Hajduk-Nijakowska, Bogusław Nierenberg and Ryszard Łabus - people who had the opportunity to work with Tadeusz Horoszkiewicz on many occasions, sometimes very intensively.

The meeting will take place on 27 November at 5 p.m., at the Museum’s Opole seat at 3 Minorytów St. We cordially invite you to  attend it!
